Escrow is a controlled holding arrangement in which funds are kept subject to defined release rules rather than released immediately to one party.
What It Is
In UAE real-estate usage, escrow is especially important in off-plan development, where project-related funds are held and monitored under regulated structures. The term is also used more broadly for protected settlement flows in transactions.
What It Is Not
It is not just any bank account, and it is not the same thing as an ordinary trust or client account. The control rules and release conditions are the point.
Where It Sits In Process
Escrow sits in the fund-protection layer. In off-plan, it controls how buyer payments are held and released during development. In transfers, it may protect settlement funds.
