Passport copy

What It is

A passport copy is a reproduction of an individual’s passport used to confirm identity and nationality in a transaction or application.

What it is not

A copy is not, on its own, verified identity — parties may require the original for sighting, a certified copy, or an Emirates ID alongside it.

Where it is used

It is commonly required with the Emirates ID for POA notarisation, property transactions and KYC onboarding, especially for non-residents.

How we define terms

Every definition on glossary.ae follows a controlled structure: what the term is, what it is not, when it is used, and where you will see it. Read our editorial methodology to understand how terms are selected, reviewed, and maintained.
