A dispute is a formal disagreement between parties over a property, tenancy, contract, or transaction that requires resolution through an authority or legal channel.
What It Is
In Dubai property, a dispute is a contested matter — over a tenancy, an ownership claim, a payment, a contract term, or a transaction — that the parties cannot settle privately and that may be escalated to a competent body such as the Rental Disputes Centre (RDC) for tenancy matters or the courts for ownership and contractual matters.
What It Is Not
It is not a routine service request, a complaint logged for information, or a negotiation that the parties can still resolve between themselves. A dispute implies an unresolved conflict that needs a formal forum or adjudication.
Where It Sits In Process
A dispute arises when a transaction, tenancy, or ownership matter breaks down — a missed obligation, a contested figure, an eviction, or a defective transfer. It sits outside the normal completion path: once a matter becomes a formal dispute it follows the relevant authority’s resolution process rather than the standard service flow.
