What It is
The Emirates ID is the mandatory national identity card issued to UAE citizens and residents by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP). It is the primary document used to verify individuals in the UAE.
What it is not
It is not a residence visa, though it is linked to residency, and a copy alone is not proof of authority to act for someone else.
Where it is used
It is presented to verify identity in property transactions, notarisation of powers of attorney, banking and KYC/AML checks.
